The Little Read 2010 will be held on Saturday, October 23 in the Main Library and other sites throughout town. The tentative schedule of activities is as follows:

Friday, October 22, 2010, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Milk and Cookies Art Reception/Bedtime Stories
Sponsored by John and Rose Cali and The Vance Wall Foundation
Come view children-created art work in the Main Library's First Floor Gallery while drinking milk and eating cookies. Then settle in for stories at 7 p.m. in the Library Lobby as Montclair elementary school teachers read their favorite bedtime stories! Feel free to wear your PJs and bring your favorite stuffed animal!

Readings will take place in the following locations:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Main Library, 50 South Fullerton Avenue
  • 9 to 10 a.m., Bradford School, 87 Mt. Hebron Road
  • 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Van Vleck House and Gardens, 21 Van Vleck Street
  • 11 a.m. to noon, Watchung Booksellers, 54 Fairfield Street
  • Noon to 1 p.m., Fire Department HQ, 1 Pine Street
  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Montclair Art Museum, 3 South Mountain Avenue
  • 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Bobbi Brown Studio, 10 Lackawanna Plaza
  • 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Charles H. Bullock School, 55 Washington Street

Children ages 5 to 11 are invited to come and create self portraits using felt and fabric that will be incorporated into a Little Read art exhibition that will be held in the Library's first-floor gallery in October. A free workshop led by Montclair Art Museum educators will be held at the Montclair Public Library's Auditorium on August 24 at 11 a.m. Preregistration is required; please call the MPL Foundation office at (973) 744-0500 ext. 2222 or e-mail info@montclairplf.org to reserve your spot.

Booklists Used In The Little Read 2009

All proceeds of The Little Read 2010 will benefit the Montclair Public Library Children's Department.

The Montclair Public Library Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that develops philanthropic support for the Montclair Public Library. Established in 2002, the MPL Foundation strives to increase funding for Library programs, collection enhancement, staff development, special projects and other critical needs that exceed municipal funding. To date in 2009, the MPL Foundation has funded the Children’s Summer Reading Club Program, professional development for Library staff, and the Library’s participation in the Bergen County Cooperative Library System. BCCLS provides residents with access to the holdings of 75 public libraries in Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic counties.
