NYC based ensemble Theatre 167 will perform scenes adapted from Marina Budhos’ novel “Watched.” Directed by Ari Laura Kreith, a Montclair resident and the artistic director of Theatre 167, who helped collaborate with MFEE and Open Book / Open Mind to bring the performance to Montclair. The drama centers around a Bangladeshi Muslim teenager being pressured to assist police in profiling his Muslim immigrant community in current day Queens, NY.
Marina Budhos, the author of YA novels Watched, Tell Us We’re Home and Ask Me No Questions will be in conversation after the performance with Arun Venugopal, a WNYC/NPR reporter and moderator on discussions about Indian-American issues, race and religion.
