Work With Us
We’re Hiring: Development & Communications Manager
Join us in supporting the future of the Montclair Public Library!
The Montclair Public Library Foundation (MPLF) is seeking a talented, motivated Development & Communications Manager to help advance our fundraising, donor engagement, and communications efforts.
Since 2002, MPLF has partnered with the Montclair Public Library to expand access to outstanding programs, collections, technology, and community resources. Today, we’re building on that work through a robust annual fundraising program, institutional giving, signature events, and a capital campaign to help create the future of the Library.
About the Role
Working closely with the Executive Director and collaborating with Foundation leadership, Library staff, Board members, donors, and community partners, the Development & Communications Manager will play an important role in growing philanthropic support for the Library.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Grant Writing & Institutional Giving: Research funding opportunities and lead the development of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports.
- Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Support annual giving, the capital campaign, corporate sponsorships, donor stewardship, and signature programs and events.
- Communications & Marketing: Craft compelling stories and outreach materials that communicate the Foundation’s impact and inspire support for the Library.
- Development Operations: Maintain donor records, track gifts and grants, prepare reports, and help ensure the smooth operation of fundraising activities.
We’re looking for a strategic thinker and strong doer who is an excellent writer, highly organized, proactive, and collaborative. The ideal candidate enjoys taking initiative, managing multiple priorities, and balancing big-picture projects with the details that keep a small organization running smoothly.
What We’re Looking For
Candidates should have at least three years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, grant writing, or a related field, along with demonstrated grant-writing experience and excellent writing and organizational skills. Experience with donor databases and digital communications tools is a plus, as is a strong interest in libraries, education, literacy, culture, and public service.
