Short-Term Priorities

Adult School – Expand selection of affordable and convenient classes for lifelong learning in a
wide array of subject areas.

Lifelong Literacy Outreach – provide resources and training to support our earliest readers in
kindergarten readiness and school success; work with teens and adults to explore creative
expression.

Little Read – annual read-a-thon to promote literacy and raise funds for children’s programming
and materials.

Open Book / Open Mind – Montclair Public Library’s signature conversation series of top authors
discussing their new books and the important events of our time.

Long-Term Aspirations

Bellevue Avenue Branch access & expansion – install elevator to make all floors accessible and
bump out back of building to provide more community meeting space and classrooms.

Modernization of Children’s Room – update layout and furnishings to create welcoming spaces
for families to read and interact, remediate accessibility obstacles.

Rooftop Solar Project – install solar panels to benefit the environment and reduce the library’s
energy costs by $20,000-$30,000 annually.

Technology & Innovation Center – create a space where people of all ages and skill levels can
receive instruction and access to design and editing software, recording equipment, and
specialized tools such as a laser cutter, 3D printer, or cricut machine.
